Privacy & Data Protection

Privacy Policy

Effective 13 September 2026

This notice explains how personal information submitted through Independence.ie is used and protected. The website is currently a pre-launch information and expression-of-interest service for the Independence.ie project.

Data protection contact: info@independence.ie. The Independence.ie project team in Ireland is responsible for handling personal data submitted through this website. The formal operating legal entity will be identified here when confirmed.

1. Information we collect

When you express interest, we may collect your first and last name, email address, optional phone number, your stated housing interest, any message you choose to send, and whether you have opted in to occasional project updates.

For security and abuse prevention, the website may also process limited technical information such as IP address, browser/user-agent information, referring page, timestamps, session identifiers and records of blocked or failed form submissions.

2. How we use it

  • To receive, manage and respond to your expression of interest or enquiry.
  • To understand aggregate demand for potential Independence.ie locations and housing options.
  • To protect the website and contact form from spam, fraud and automated abuse.
  • To send occasional project updates only where you have actively opted in, or where another lawful basis applies.
  • To meet legal obligations and establish, exercise or defend legal claims where necessary.

3. Lawful bases

We rely on our legitimate interests in operating a secure pre-launch service, responding to genuine enquiries and assessing demand. Where your request relates to a possible future transaction, processing may also be necessary to take steps at your request before entering a contract. Project-update emails that depend on consent are sent only where you have chosen to opt in, and you can withdraw that consent at any time.

4. Who receives your information

We do not sell your personal information. Information may be handled by service providers used to host, secure, maintain or operate the website and email service, but only to the extent necessary for those services. We may also disclose information where required by law.

5. International transfers

If a service provider processes personal information outside the European Economic Area, we will rely on an appropriate transfer mechanism and safeguards required by applicable data-protection law.

6. How long we keep it

Expressions of interest and related correspondence are retained only for as long as they remain relevant to the pre-launch project, demand assessment and follow-up, subject to any legal or record-keeping requirement. Marketing/update consent records are kept for as long as needed to demonstrate the permission given and to respect any withdrawal or objection. Security logs are retained only for the period reasonably needed to investigate and prevent abuse.

7. Your rights

Subject to the GDPR and applicable Irish law, you may have rights to access, correct or erase your personal data, restrict or object to processing, receive certain data in portable form, and withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. To exercise a right, email info@independence.ie.

You may also complain to the Irish Data Protection Commission. Information is available at dataprotection.ie.

8. Cookies and similar technologies

The contact form uses an essential session cookie to support security controls such as CSRF protection and the human-verification step. The site does not currently use advertising or behavioural-tracking cookies. The site may load third-party web fonts, which can result in normal technical request information such as an IP address being received by the font provider.

9. Security

We use proportionate technical and organisational measures designed to protect information submitted through the site, including server-side form validation, anti-spam controls and access restrictions. No internet service can guarantee absolute security.

10. Changes to this notice

We may update this notice as the project, service providers or legal requirements develop. The effective date above will be changed when a material update is published.
